Everyone has the right to feel safe and respected in their relationship. Healthy relationships are built on communication, respect and mutual understanding. In healthy relationships, you make decisions together, there is no imbalance of power. Both you and your partner can openly discuss relationship problems, without fear of retaliation. When both people in a relationship feel understood and heard it keeps one person in the relationship from feeling like they are giving into the wants and needs of the other. In a healthy relationship you both respect each other's independence. Although you both enjoy spending time together, you know the value in spending time apart. If or when the relationship ends, neither of you refuse to let the other one go. Although, you or your partner may feel sad or broken hearted by the breakup there is no stalking, resentment or revenge after the relationship has ended.
